24 MILLION votes cast last night and y’all couldn’t send a few thousand Anoop’s way?! Psssssssssssssh. (Okay, okay, that’s my only whine about last night’s result show, but I’m about to start campaigning for Anoop to be picked in the Wild Card Round. Anoop for Idol!!! I’m LadyKong and I approved this message.)
Ryan Seacrest told us there were about 10 million more votes Tuesday night than there was at this point last year. Voted through to the Top 12 were the girl and guy with the highest amount of votes, as well as the next highest “vote-getter” (as Ryan explains it), regardless of gender.
America voted after the contestants sang their choices from the history of the Billboard’s Top 100 Songs and Alexis “young dirty single mom” Grace, Michael “oil rigging daddy of 2” Sarver, and Danny “the widower” Gokey are now in the Top 12 of Season 8.
Only 20,000 votes separated Michael and Anoop…which, I guess when we’re talking outta 24 million votes, isn’t entirely a lot…I definitely underestimated the MommyBloggers voting for the hard-working, struggling family man of the show, and the TeenyBoppers voting for the guy singing the only one of these songs they’ve ever heard in their young lives (besides the butchered Taylor Swift one).
Notable mentions were Jackie Tohn, Ricky “who?” Braddy, the one and only Anoop Desai, and Tatiana “Tee-Hee” Del Toro…who surprisingly refrained herself from a breakdown on air, but I’m sure Idol producers will have some juicy behind-the-scenes footage for us next week {evil laughter}.
Those not yet put through to the Top 36 each week will go home for now, but will be brought back in early March for the Wild Card round, in which the judges pick three of the remaining contestants, completing the Top 12.
Tuesdays performers will include Megan Corkrey, Kris Allen, Mishavonna Henson, Matt Breitzke, Allison Iraheta, Matt Giraud, Jasmine Murray, Kai Kalama, Jesse Langseth, Adam Lambert, Jeanine Vailes, and…drum roll, please…Norman Gentle, sweatband and all.
Don’t forget to vote, People! Or your favorite might not get the chance he/she deserves!!! {subliminal message: NOT NORMAN!!!}

I was sad about Anoop, but loved the top 3. There were just so many good ones in that group--most were my favorites! Oh well.
The truth? I was sad they were all grouped together like that. I liked anoop too, whatta name!
My fav is the downey jr look-a-like though! His story of course set it apart, but he's got a voice!!
