Top 'o the Mornin' to ya!!!

CuriousGeorge (age7) came downstairs wide-eyed this morning:
"MOM! Do you know what Phoebe told me?! She said if you wear green today,
you get a kiss (with the girls-have-cooties face);
and if you don't, you get a pinch."
I giggled as I shielded my eyes from the blazing orange outfit he was wearing.
After explaining the higher probability of getting pinched by all the boys in his class,
he came out of his closet in head-to-toe camo.

MonkeyButt (age 9) was then reminded and was on the hunt for some green.
It was close to bus time so I entered his closet, threw him a pair of jeans,
some (coincidently) green underwear, and a blue shirt with green letters on it.
"That's not green!"
"Bud, you don't have to have a green shirt, just something with green on it."
"But what if one of the guys comes up behind me and pinches me cuz I have a blue shirt on."
"Well, (not my proudest parenting moment) pinch 'em back! And if they don't think it's enough green, you could always pull your pants down."
Picturing that phone call from the principal, I added the fine print: "That was not me giving you permission to pull your pants down, by the way!"

Mom: "Happy St. Patrick's Day, SpiderMonkey!"
SpiderMonkey (age 3): "It's Patrick's Day?!! Is he gonna be at my school?!"

There's something I never thought I'd say to my 2yr old:

"Stop milking the dog!!!"

How Rude!

We took the monkeys shoe shopping over the weekend and while at a double-laned stoplight, waiting for the green light, we heard another car rudely honk his horn (a MAJOR pet peeve of KingKong)...
KingKong (as he turned around to look behind us): What the F? Who
just tooted??!!
MonkeyButt (from the backseat): Me.

You Think Kids Say the Darndest Things???.......Well,...

...Just wait 'til they put it in writing and get graded for it!!!

I was going through the mountain stack of school papers CuriousGeorge and MonkeyButt put on the counter last night and found: "About Myself" by MonkeyButt.**'' **duh, name change.

Chapter 1, How Old: I am seven years old and have one sister and five brothers. MonkeyGirl is my only sister, and MonkeyBoy is my teenage brother. Then there's CuriousGeorge, SpiderMonkey, MonkeySee, and MonkeyDo (my little brothers).

Chapter 2, What I Look Like: I have light brown hair, blue eyes, tan skin, and brown eyebrows.

Chapter 3, How Old Are My Parents and Other People in My House: My dad is 33, my mom is 27. My sister is 14, my brothers are 12, 6, 2, 1, and 1.

Chapter 4, What My Parents Do: My dad drives a big truck all day. But my mom sits on our couch, on the computer or watching Guiding Light TV.

Chapter 5, My Birthday: I was born on January 11, 2001. I was born in Monkeyville Medical Center.

Chapter 6, Favorite Foods: I like tacos, spaghetti with meatballs, and cereal.

THE END

Well, this is OBVIOUSLY a fictional story or else the word bon-bons would have been included!!!

The moral of the story folks...someday your child will be in 3rd grade and will have to write something like this, so you better start brainwashing training prepping them on all the wonderous duties of being a sahm now!

How Appropriate...and WW pics

I just realized we had a mini monkey theme in our halloween costumes this year...*snicker* How appropriate, eh? SpiderMonkey and MonkeyDo were...monkeys (duh!), and MonkeySee was a banana.

Playing at Nana's, pre- TOT

Taking a break while Trick-or-Treating

The car ride home...sockless and sticky with pop tarts...mmmm.

And CuriousGeorge and MonkeyButt were obviously not into the whole monkey theme this year. For Trick-or-Treating and parties, they were Yoda and Darth Vader...and for the Cub Scout pack meeting, they were Thing 1 and Thing 2 as book characters.

Cellular Phone Commercials, much?

KingKong had the older two boys outside kicking the soccer ball around. CuriousGeorge was blindsided by a groin shot from his dad. He was not impressed. CuriousGeorge to KingKong...

"That's it. You are SO outta my Top 5."

What a Difference a Year Makes!

July 27, 2007 the Twinkeys were one week old. These are the pics I took of them, as they rested peacefully in a shared crib, sleeping 18+ hours/day, and drifted back to dreamland with tummies full of formula...
Those peaceful Twinkeys turned ONE YEAR OLD on July 20th. We held their party July 27th, 2008. They're still phenomenal sleepers, 12 hours at night plus a couple naps during the day. Their tastes (and looks) however have definitely changed...

They do loooove them some chocolate! I have NO idea where they inherited that from...*clears throat*

And though things around here are a little (okay, A LOT) less peaceful, I love my Twinkeys and cannot believe they are ONE YEAR OLD!
Chocolate-covered babies...my favorite kind! :o)

Happy Mother's Day

We spent the morning at the park and the monkeys helped KingKong do dishes and vacuum as I was being lazy on the couch otherwise occupied.

MonkeyButt has decided he'd like to have a Nintendo DS. Sometime today, while I was snoring busy, he and KingKong decided to discuss setting up an allowance system. Heh. CuriousGeorge was on board. Those monkeys did NOT lift a finger today without checking first to see if it was "going toward our allowance money?"

So, this afternoon, as I was testing my new hammock mowing the lawn, the monkeys decided to finish up some dishes and another round (because there are several in a day) of picking up the living room.

I came inside to a bunch of puffy-chested proud boys (KingKong included) proclaiming their love for me with sudsy hands.

MonkeyButt: See the living room, Mommy? I picked up and
vacuumed.

CuriousGeorge: And I helped him and I did the dishes.

MonkeyButt: Yeah Mommy, we did it alllllllllll for YOU!

CuriousGeorge: ...And the MONEY...

Greedy Little MonkeyButt

After T-ball the other night, we took the Monkeys to Arby's cause we wanted fast food, but we wanted something a little different (read: less nugget-shaped). $28.46 later, our bellies were full. *sigh*

Until, KingKong remembered the sign on the window for Chocolate Turnovers. He took SpiderMonkey to the car while CuriousGeorge, MonkeyButt and I ordered four. One for me, one for KingKong, one for CuriousGeorge, and one for MonkeyButt. It was late and the kiddos fell asleep in the car, so we decided that instead of chocolate marshmallowy cereal for breakfast, they might as well just have the chocolate turnovers.

Chocolate.HEAVEN. For real. You HAVE to go get some!!

KingKong forgot them in the car (which thankfully the night temps are the temps of the inside of the refridgerator anyway), so before the monkeys got up the next morning, I ran out and got them. And I ate one. Okay, two. Y.U.M!

The next day, when we were out running errands...

MonkeyButt: Mom, we should go to Arby's and get more of those
Choc-ohhhhhh-late Turn-ohhhh-vers (with crazy
I-wanna-be-eating-sugar-lots-n-lots-of-sugar eyes)

LadyKong: Oh, really? (I could just picture the chocolate
handprints the three of them would be placing on my car seats and
windows)

MonkeyButt: Ya, we should get four... one for me, one for
CuriousGeorge, one for SpiderMonkey, and... another one for ME!

LadyKong: *gasp* What about me??!?

A quick Q&A with LadyKong

Two names you go by:
1. LadyKong
2. "MO-OM--he--hit--me!" Oops, I mean, just "Mom."

Two things you are wearing right now:
1. KingKong's boxer briefs (CLEAN ones!)
2. T-shirt. There's an image for ya lol

Two longest car trips:
1. The 800 mile trip to Ohio for MonkeyAunt's wedding with two toddlers and a month-old baby. All. By. MYSELF.
2. The same ride home less than a week later...yes, I'm crazy. Didn't you know that already?

Two of your favorite things to do:
1. Laugh when the monkeys say/do funny things. They're quite witty and come up with some funny jokes. I'm surprised how often we laugh out loud cause of something they said, like CuriousGeorge saying something his dad did yesterday made him a redneck (omg!) and tonight when I hit those 1700 potholes and launched the car like I was running over logs in a freaking Tuff Truck competition, I was like "Holy Crap" (I REALLY did say crap, I know, I'm surprised too!) and MonkeyButt's voice came from the third row outta the dark, "Well, you weren't the only one thinking that!" Hahahahahahahaha.
2. Have drinks with friends and laughing

Two things you can't wait for:
1. Spring, so I can start using the triple stroller. I gotta try to lose some of this booty, it's following me everywhere!
2. The Twinkeys to start talking (ya, I know, and then I'll want them to be quiet). I cannot WAIT to have two mini-SpiderMonkeys running around...in our little gated community...aka...the living room.

Three things you ate today:
1. SpiderMonkey fed me his Nilla Wafers, only AFTER he bit each one, of course.
2. And then his popcorn, or did he steal mine? Oh well, it's all community property, I guess.
3. Chicken dinner at my ma's

Things you are doing tomorrow:
1. changing diapers, feeding monkeys
2. changing diapers, feeding monkeys
3. changing diapers, feeding monkeys...beginning to see a pattern here? Oooooh, I might change it up a bit and add in a phone call to the dentist and pediatrician. Can't wait for that!!

Two favorite holidays:
1. Halloween
2. The First day of School Mwwaaahahahahahaha (Evil laughter...)

Two favorite beverages:
1. ANYthing alcoholic. Ooh, another pattern. No, my favorite is...ALL the yummy ones. Sorry, I tried to hide it. I'm a lush. Get over it. just kidding...kinda
2. Hot Chocolate. It's a classic, man.
